Combine corn and egg in a bowl. Sift in flour and beat until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Heat sufficient oil or fat in a frying pan to cover base.

Original Recipe
Yield 1 dozen fritters
Ingredients:
3 cups oil for frying
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Heat oil in a heavy pot or deep fryer to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Beat together egg, milk, and melted shortening; stir into flour mixture.
Mix in the corn kernels. Drop fritter batter by spoonfuls into the hot oil, and fry until golden. Drain on paper towels. Good luck.
My English Grandma's recipe for cream style corn fritters, which my Irish husband says is as good as his mothers.
1/4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
Beat eggs light and fluffy.
Stir in corn and dry ingredients.
Cook like pancakes.
