Save on Hot Water BillsIf you have an electric water heater, turn your hot water heater off when you go out of town, or even when you leave for the day. It will cut your electric bill!
Keep a Rag Bag for CleaningWe have a "rag bag" by the laundry in the basement, full of cut up old socks, old towels, old flannel shirts, etc., which make great dusting and cleaning cloths. The rags get washed with the laundry after being used.
Meal PlanningDo you have a set of meals that you eat on a regular basis? Plan ahead at least a week in advance so you don't have to make too many trips to the grocery store. When at the store, buy extras of most often needed items (when on sale) so you will always have some in reserve.
Discarding Unneeded ItemsOnce a month go through all of your drawers and closets for discards. Put discards in a box for donation or to sell at a garage sale. If for a garage sale, make sure you price things as you pack them. It will make your sale much easier.
Make Your Own Emergency ReflectorsWrap reflector tape around a couple of empty coffee cans. You can keep them in the trunk of your car for emergencies. You can also fill them with possible needed items: a bottle of water, a space blanket, and band aids for medical emergencies and wire, laundry line, duct tape....

Make Your Own Mushroom PowderIf you get a super sale on mushrooms (mark downs); slice them and dry on cookie sheets on low in oven until crispy dry. I processed mine in a mini chopper and stored powder in spice jars.
