Crockpot Sausage and PotatoesHere is another great crock pot meal. My family just loves it!
Shop At Discount Grocery StoresAs far as the person who wrote in about eating healthy for less, I have a suggestion. We have started eating healthier and I am the "coupon queen". I thought it was cheaper to eat fat too, until I switched. For one thing fruit is much more filling, where chips actually cause you to be hungrier.
Popcorn and Trail MixPopcorn is a great inexpensive snack. You can cook it in a hot air popper and have a low calorie snack for very little money. The calories go on when you use oil, butter, or margarine on it.
Healthy Snacking Grows Healthy Kids"Kids love to snack, and the good news is that snacking is important to a child's well being. Children are growing and developing rapidly.
Drying Small LoadsIf you think drying smaller loads in the dryer is thrifty, think again. The tumbling effect is reduced, thus prolonging the drying period.
Beaded Ring for Valentine's DayMake a ring for your Valentine. You need rocaille beads that are the size of a seed bead and some beading wire. Measure off about two feet of wire. Slip on four beads. Now run the one end of the wire through the last two beads on the other end of the wire.
Invest In Your HealthYour health is worth much more than what you can save by eating junk. Cut back on other areas; possessions come and go, but you only have one body. You are buying quality of life, not just apples. Our family of four eats unprocessed, mostly organic foods on $100 a week, mostly by cooking everything ourselves. Give yourself some time to transition to this new lifestyle and mindset, and you'll find yourself actually spending less, not more.

Orange StuffThis has always been a family favorite of ours for many many years.
Clutter BasketsKeep a basket in each room for clutter. Have the family help clean out the baskets once a week. When unexpected company arrives, simply put the baskets in the closet.
Before Eating Junk Food, Consider Medical Costs Down The RoadWhen choosing healthy food and considering cost, it helps to remember what the dentist charges for a filling if I eat junk food, what cholesterol and diabetic prescriptions cost, not to mention the cost of going to the doctor and other medical tests.
Grocery Receipt CouponsMy grocery store (Safeway) offers a strip of coupons with the register receipt. Sometimes the cashiers forget to give the coupons to customers so the strips can get pretty long. ]
Fruits and Vegetables as SnacksThe following come in response to Frugal's post . . .
Groceries Are Cheaper Than Doctor BillsWhen I was raising our children my mother-in-law told me one day as I too was complaining about food prices. "groceries are a lot cheaper then doctor bills" and I never forget that and raised four healthy beautiful adults.
Tips for Frugally Healthy MealsA great tip I use for frugality healthy meals is:
1. When buying produce, try to buy items that can be frozen later on. . .
Stretch Before You SleepFor a better nights sleep and healthier day remember to stretch. Simple stretching exercises ensure a more restful sleep.

Once a Week CookingThere are no "leftovers" at our house! We prefer to call them pre-planned meals. We buy meats on sale and I usually spend a Sunday evening cooking. I often make meat loaves, barbecued spare ribs and baked chicken.
Angel (St. Bernard)You at "thrifty" have met Angel before. If you haven't she is our Saint Bernard that will be 3 the 26th of this month. Here she looks as if she's dreaming of Beethoven, her secret love.
Healthy Eating For Overall HealthEven with being frugal, you need to look at the big picture. For overall health and weight loss, you have to look at long term eating and not just immediate gratification. I shop at Aldi's every other week and our Aldi's has a produce section where the healthy treats would be as inexpensive as chips.
A Healthy Meat SubstituteWhat if I told you I'd found a food you can use like meat
that's not only dirt cheap, but also healthier than many
other food items on the market? You'd probably think I
also had some swamp land in Florida to sell you cheap.
Organized Christmas Cards ListFirst label a piece of paper with Christmas and the year, list people you are sending cards to. When received cards come in put check by their name on your list. This way you can see who you sent and received cards from.
Turn the Collar for a New-Looking ShirtBetty's tip about cutting her husband's frayed cuffs off and making long sleeves into short, reminds me of how I have extended the life of some of my husband's nicer shirts that have frayed collars.
Eating Healthily and Frugally at Fast Food ChainsExcluding Subway, the more healthy items at fast food chains are the more expensive (e.g., Grilled Chicken sandwich vs. a Big Mac). When you go, make sure to ask if you can SUBSTITUTE a healthy side item, like a salad, for french fries or potato chips.
