Slow Cooker ApplesThere is nothing that can compare to the smell of apples being slow cooked and what better way to fix them? Fill crock pot with peeled and sliced apples, add 1/2 cup of water, spices and butter, if using.

 

Kiwi-Strawberry JellyMy mother and I were experimenting and made this jelly. Its the best tasting besides regular strawberry preserves I've ever had.

 

Grilled Spicy Baby Back RibsSo easy. Preheat grill to high heat. Combine cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a small lidded jar and shake to mix.

 

Candied Sweet PotatoesArrange potatoes cut in half lengthwise in uncovered baking dish. Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in saucepan. Boil 5 minutes. Pour over potatoes. Bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes.

 

Econo CookiesCream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add well beaten eggs and soda that has been dissolved in hot water. Add flour and rest of ingredients. Mix well and chill.

 

Swiss DipMix all ingredients together, cook in pan till bubbles. Serve on dark breads, crackers, or veggies.

 

Beef StroganoffSaute' mushrooms and onions in 2 Tbsp. butter and remove from pan. Remove fat and bone from steak and cut into chunks. Melt remaining butter in pan; coat meat with flour and brown. Add salt and bouillon mixture.

 

CheesecakeGrease 9x13 inch pan with melted butter. Pour extra in with cake mix and egg to form dough. Press this in the pan to form a crust. Mix eggs, cream cheese, vanilla, lemon juice and powdered sugar until cream; pour into crust.

 

Fruit SaladMix ingredients together except whipped topping. Cool several hours before serving. Mix in whipped topping. Serves 12.

 

Seal Cracks in Wood StoveYou can seal cracks in a wood stove with this simple old-time homemade cement: Put a cupful of wood ashes in an old can, add about half a cup of salt, and slowly stir in enough water to make a stiff paste. Plaster the broken places in the metal with this mixture.

Wildlife: Fish (Mud-Puppy?)This is a photo of a very strange fish that one of my son's buddies caught. I'm not completely sure, but I think that this fish may be called a mud-puppy. It was caught in an Alabama river.

Lucille (Cat)This is a kitten that my daughter's cat had. She decided to make herself at home on my lawn chair. I went out there to sit down, but I just didn't have the heart to disturb her, she looked so comfortable. Her name is Lucille, and she has blue eyes.
