Sweet Potato PieEasy to make, using ready made crust. Great way to use left over cooked/baked sweet potato.

 

Grandma's Scalloped CornMix ingredients but save 1/4 cup crackers for top. Put into Pyrex baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining crackers; dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.

 

Tuna MeltsVery plain open faced healthy(er) Tuna Melts, no mayo or added ingredients. Just the good stuff!

 

Garlic CauliflowerYou can spice these up adding crushed red pepper flakes to taste too. Heat olive oil in a large skillet and saute cauliflower and garlic for about 5 minutes.

 

Mushroom BarleyWonderful combination of fresh mushrooms and quick cooking barley.

 

Baby Cereal Biscuits Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract, and water. Mix until well blended. Gradually stir in cereal. Knead until smooth. Pat into rectangle.

Use Styrofoam to Transport Hot ItemsIn trying to keep the landfill free of styrofoam, I clean and reuse mine for a lot of things. I use styrofoam under planters, as trays for under craft projects (like those using glitter), etc.

 

Needles as Alternative to NailsWhere nail holes are not allowed, use sewing needles. They hold up to 30 lbs.

 

Make Dispenser From Old Pill BottlesUse empty pill bottles to dispense elastic and similar items. Coil the item to fit into the bottle. Then cut a simple slit/opening in the lid to pull the item out as you need it, as much as you need. Use this to hold and dispense yard string.

 

Penny (Abyssinian)Penny is almost a 9 year old Abyssinian. I found her at a breeders. I could tell she had been neglected because she wasn't "show quality." I had to have her. She's had a ton of vet bills since but has been totally worth it.

 

Turn Sweatshirt into a JacketMake a jacket out of an old sweatshirt by cutting the front down the center from top to bottom. Trim the cut edge with ribbon or lace (you can hand sew it). This will look really special and it will get used more than you know - I know I do.

 

Photo Note CardsI'm not a scrapbook person, but some of my friends who are encouraged me to try to make these note cards. I used old vintage photos of family members to make them special. I scanned the photos and had copies made.

 

Use Placemats in RefrigeratorMy mum taught me the advantages of lining the glass shelves in a refrigerator. Most refrigerators could benefit from this. You just place a large plastic or cloth place mat on each shelf.

 

Store Manuals and ReceiptsI have stored receipts and manuals in a file cabinet drawer for many years. Binders are a good idea if you don't have a file drawer, but can find shelf space for them. A binder with pocket pages or page protectors can accommodate most manuals.
