My daughter is turning 13 and there are 14 people invited 5 being boys. We are stumped, we don't know what to do. Help! Her birthday is the 29th of January.

Thirteen is a hard age to plan for. You can't really get away with the old standbys with kids now a days. You could try a murder mystery party (downsize the complexity a bit for kids but not to much (kids are smart)), Team up and do a pictionary type game, If you are in a fairly safe neighborhood maybe a scavenger hunt (make 3 or 4 teams and give a time limit (make sure one person in each team has a watch)), plan out some charades using things that the kids would know, be creative and think out of the box. You should be able to come up with a few things. Just remember these kids aren't adults but they are on the verge. Maybe something that would be for an adult birthday party will work if you dumb it down. (01/16/2011)

If they are into video games, you could get some of the youth to bring their different game consoles and games and set up various stations for the different games and they could perhaps go from a Wii to a Playstation to whatever. I did this for my son for one of his birthdays and it was a great success! Another time, I got some of his friends together who were wanting to start a band to come and play and he had a live band! Of course, they didn't charge as they were just glad to get a chance to play in front of others. (01/20/2011)
