My daughter's birthday is December 23rd. (I brought her home on Christmas Day.') I have no idea what to do.
Being that it is so close to Christmas, I'm afraid no one would show up to a party. Any ideas are appreciated.

My son's birthday is December 28th and he's turning 13 this year too :) When he was younger, we celebrated his birthday party a couple weeks early - the weekend before school gets out for the holidays. Once our kids hit about 10, we stopped having "parties" and started having them choose just 1 or 2 friends to go Roller Skating or the video arcade, followed by a stop at Cold Stone for some ice cream or home for cake and then an overnight - so we plan the party around when the friends he's inviting are in town.
Make sure to do it the weekend before or do a fun new years birthday party
My daughters bday is Dec 28th (tomorrow) and she will be 13! She only wanted to hang out with her sister. So i planned dinner and a movie.
My daughter's birthday was just a week from then and we just invited a couple friends and then I would give them some money on a budget and we would go somewhere like ice skating and then after that go to their favorite ice cream place then go home and do a sleepover
I was born December 22nd. Mom has always celebrated my birthday on the 22nd and as an adult, as close to the day as possible, I will see her (I live out of state).
So, 13 is a pretty exciting. If I remember correctly, I had a bunch of my girl friends come over, family friends and their parents, with aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents. Mom always had tons of food for everyone and family would bring a covered dish. We played a few games, did cake & ice cream and presents.
Games that were a hit:
All the kids take their shoes off and place them in a jumbled mess in the middle of the room. Then everyone stands in a Large circle around the shoes facing to the outside. Parents mix the shoes up, get out of the way and then tell everyone to turn around find their pair of shoes, put them on and tie them. First person wins!
If you can find long, red, shoestring licorice... two kids pair to one adult. The adult holds up two long strings one in each hand. The kids have to race to eat it without touching it with their hands. First one wins. Then you can pair them up with another winner and repeat till you have a final winner.
You could also do a movie night with homemade pizzas. Get all the pizza ingredients and either small pizza crusts or make homemade pizza dough and break off individual servings. Then have each kid make their own pizza the way they like it. Followed by a movie. Half way through have intermission, (bathroom breaks) do presents and cake & ice cream.
I was born on Christmas so I know how you feel if you are worried nobody will show up have it earlier. I usually have mine on the 10-16th
I was born on Christmas and ever since the day I was born I have celebrated on the 5th of december
my birthday is on december 18th and i usually do mine around from the 10th- 20th there have been times where not many people have turned up but the earlier you do it the better!
My sister's birthday is on Christmas Day and what we do is we have her birthday party on her half birthday. If that doesn't seem like something you want to do, have a birthday party somewhere around New Years like New Year's Eve and have a sleepover party.
1/2 birthday parties are awesome. My daughter is born the week after Christmas and we've been doing this since she was 2 1/2 yrs old.
You should celebrate her half birthday instead.
What's a half birthday
My niece also has a birthday in December, on the 22nd. She always has a christmas themed party which lots of her friends go to it, is nomally held at her house where all the girls have fun and do there nails and makeup etc. and go out for a meal. This could also turn into a sleepover as well.
Don't worry if her friends can't turn up on her exact birthday she can always have a nice party early or maybe even after christmas what ever is better and easier for you really.
My daughter was born on Christmas Day. So every first Saturday in December I would have a big themed birthday party so she never got the gypped out of her birthday or Christmas presents.
WoW! My daughter's birthday is December 23rd as well. She is a twin with a boy, so that presents even more of a dilemma to come up with coordinating party themes. Yes, I have had the issue no one showing up because of the busy time of year, so I plan on having their birthday party early. I'm going to try that garage dance party idea. :)
My granddaughter just went to a sleep over, they tie dyed pillow cases, blindfolded makeup application , homemade photobooth (super easy with halloween Clearence coming) cupcake decorating. She had a blast. 13 year olds love selfies.
You could wait until January or even February to throw a party and then it is more likely for people to show up
My Birthday I son Christmas week also,
I have my parties in May or June instead of December
well my birthday is the same day so have an early birthday party like in November or in the beginning of December and throw her a mall and spa day party
Make her feel as special as you can and don't get her a birthday and Christmas gift all in onea
Some children will cm some will not
I think that you should do a combined party so she gets all of her things on christmas my birthday is on december 11 and thats what my parents do for me
try having her birth-day party the month before so her party is away from christmas and she still get her birth-day partys. Whatever she doesnt get for her birth-day she might get for chrismas.
you could have a small birthday tea party for family
just combine her gifts and make sure it is something she will really love
My daughters Birthday is 19th of April, right in the middle of the Easter Holidays, so we celebrate her birthday when school goes back or before school finishes for that exact reason.
I love birthdays they can sometimes get messy but if you take the presents and put under the tree it would be better so she can open on Christmas and have fun on Christmas Day.
you could always wait untill after christmas or wait untill january
I will be 13 years old this year on july 4. I think you should haveher brothday on Christmasday she will pprobablyhave fun and she might be happy about she having her brithday party on Christmas day.
It's best to have a few friends come over for like a slumber party or just have a family thing
You could have a party at airhop ( a trampolining place) which costs £160 for 10 guests
Try to do it 2 weeks or so earlier and do a sleepover to get her and her friends bond stronger! Hope that helped! Kayla
Have a sleep over and play game of scramble words about the party
Try doing a birthday party a week before by having a party at a building and iviting friends. And it depends how old she is
I thought I was reading about my daughter...lol looking for idea's too.
i would throw the party maybe a week before or after her real birth day and maybe just have her favorite dinner and dessert on her real birth day
Maybe either have her bday in Jan in holidays before school, or maybe near the end of school when everyone's not traveling yet around
Have the party earlier in the year like November so most people won't be busy that's what I did
My son is 14 and his birthday is December 28th. He says DO NOT combine her birthday and Christmas!! He suggests doing the party before school gets out for the holiday (not after). For presents, when he has wanted something really big as a gift, we have asked him if it was worth only getting one present for both holidays - one time he has said yes, the rest he has said no. I was actually well prepared for having a son with a birthday so close the Christmas. My mom's birthday was actually December 24th and her family got together opened Christmas presents on the 24th when she was growing up. She always felt that her birthday was ignored. So, when she was an adult it was her birthday (not Christmas Eve) on the 24th until 5pm. My dad always made sure there was no combined presents, no Christmas wrapping paper, a birthday cake, a birthday card - it was her BIRTHDAY. At 5pm, it became Christmas Eve, but our family never opened any Christmas presents until Christmas morning. Because of this, I've always kept my son's birthday and Christmas separate.
Have it a couple of weeks earlier. My daughter was born on the 24th so we had it a couple of weeks earlier and it worked out great.
Just have the party earlier in the month.
Well if you have a big empty room or a big basement have a DJ come and have a dance party and string up lights on wall and stuff like that then to finish up the night have her friends sleep over
My birthday is dec 22... My mother always had to do my birthday a few weeks before. Always made me upset.... Good luck
well you should take her out for tea and take her shopping and tell her youre gonna buy anything under 30 pounds/dollars
My sister, was born on (December 25), how we celebrate is have a birthday a week or two earlier, so that we can have her friend's over. Then on the eve of Christmas we do everything, presents, dinner, church etc. Then on the 25th it's not Christmas it's her day.
my daughter's is too but i need to find ideas for her twin brother
it would be good if you had a christmas incorperated birthday the week before and had a sleepover with lots of decorations
Omg just read this thought I posted it lol same 23 premature and out at 3.30 Christmas was so special and I'm in a dilemma to I thought dinner in a restaurant and then back to home and games I'm looking for so there no strutting Lenny to keep them going good luck sista lol
my birthday is november 29 and it is very close to thanksgiving so i am having my birthday party on the 18 so 11 days before my actual birthday
My daughter's birthday is new years eve. She will be 13 this year. Every other year we do a half year or should I say august my birth month.
Most parents these days they are iffey of having there kids away from them start of the year. They want them home. Down here in the Georgia. Into the new year monster jam comes and everyone hours there. Really can't do after.
Last year I had 3 girls over and then went to water park that turns in slides during the winter then zip line across the lake.
But have no idea what to do this year ?
Hi my daughter's the same day. This is her 13th birthday. We rented a hotel and rsvp invites and family to come by. We are just hanging out from 4-9 then up to 7 sleep over. It should be fun. Good luck
Have her party befor her birthday so people won't be out of town
you dont have to have her birthday party right away, mt birthday is in november and its january and im still planning the party. i think its nice to have a day as a family on her birthday but to invite her friends you could wait till january
My sons birthday is the 17th December. Best time of the year to have a party, Santa is always there to hand out presents. Selection boxes I wrap up lol. We had jacks 3rd birthday on a steam train, it was amazing. We booked out a carriage with tables & got to see the sights while having a party. Santa then came round handing out gift bags included in the price. Parents & kids had a great day out xx
Just have a little bit friends or you can easily have cousins to stay over
Hi I know it's past December but my idea is do the birthday party a week or so early and maybe you could do a small little party with family (sister, dad, etc.) on her actual birthday!
In my town, they set up about a half mile long path of Christmas trees and we like to go there every Christmas. You could see if there is something like that - some special, local Christmas celebration you could take her and her friends to. Afterwards, you could take her to a local coffee/hot cocoa chop and hang out. It may be small but it would be fun, cute, and memorable. I hope this helps someone!
My birthday is july 3rd and it's hard bc barely anybody shows up cause it's canada weekend so what me and my mom do is just have it a week or two early or a week or two after
Have it eithier a week before or a week after
Just go for it. You could always celebrate her birthday earlier or later.
You could always have a Christmas party and join her party and the Christmas party together it'll be a great Christmas tradition and an even more special way to celebrate her party
Well maybe celebrate in November or early December that way if your daughter is inviting a large amount of people, majority will come as it isn't near Xmas. I would also recomend only bringing close friends on her birthday for a sleepover where the girls can do a movie night, girl talk and bunch more.
