l am turning 13 years. I want something nice like a braai (South African style BBQ) and swimming. The problem is l don't know if l should invite boys plus it's on a budget and it's lockdown.

Around where I am, lock down parties are now parades, where the family drives the birthday child by all of his/her friend's houses and they wave and maybe give out candy to their friends or some the friends all have had it arranged to give candy to the birthday child.
The other thing we have seen are yard decorating parties--where you ask your friends to decorate your yard with a birthday wish--give everyone a different time so it can be socially distant.
The end of the days have been being capped off by everyone gathering on a Zoom or other face to face service and everyone sings and chats.
You can invite lots of people to participate in which ever combination you choose.
Thank you can enjoy the yard for days to come--as can your neighbors. It makes for great photos for your social media!
Post back with what you decide! Blessings on your special day!
Sounds like Pghgirl has some good suggestions.
There was a recent 'party' several blocks away from me that looked like fun. A 'parade' of cars (parents driving) that started at a certain time and friends were in the front or back seat with the window down and the birthday girl went out to the car to accept gifts (still keeping a distance) and then stood beside the car while her father took pictures of the 'friends' making funny faces etc. It turned out really nice and everyone loved the pictures of the whole event.
This way, the expense was minimal for everyone but I think she had a small 'private' party with several of her best girl friends later in the day. She turned 14 on a nice sunny day but said she was worried as rain was predicted.
A nice day with lots of picture memories.
Hope your special day turns out to be just what you wanted.
Maybe it might not be possible this year to have the birthday party of your dreams but you can still make it come true if you really want. I would keep the party very small and not have more than 6 of your friends attend the party. You can have an outdoor party where it makes it easier for you and your friends to have fun and to go swimming and still have your BBQ if you want. I know that lockdown is terrible and it has canceled so many events this year and make people scared to do a lot.
If you are on a budget, pick just a few friends (3 to 5) . You are 13 and the party would be easier and cost affective with just the girls. This will keep the budget down because boys tend to eat more!
You could still do this but keep it super small due to the budget and the lockdown. Stay safe and have a great birthday!
