I am having my 14th birthday in October and I am blank on ideas. I am only inviting about 5 friends (all girls) and any girly things like dress-up, nails, or spa thingies are out of the question. I am thinking of something on the more independent and adventurous side. Going places is fine, but nothing too expensive. Thanks.

Every birthday party does not have to be the ultimate adventure. It is being together with friends that makes the good time. Try to think of doing something together that you might not ordinarily do. Perhaps you could get your mom to set up a scavenger hunt around your community on a Saturday afternoon, followed by a picnic and cake in the park.
The classics of minigolf, bowling, a movie, swimming, etc are always good. Maybe there is something new that you are all interested in that might be fun to do - like a yoga class or dance class? Check to see if there are any special events, like a play or free concert in the park that might be going on that you could go as a group to.
