I'm turning 14 in July and I have no ideas what to do apart from have a BBQ. Any other ideas which are better or is that OK?

I heard of a girls teenage party at the mall. It was turned into a scavenger hunt and picture taking. So each girl gets a camera (or can use their phone) and a scavenger hunt list with items from the stores. Just take pictures of the items with their faces.
At the end there is a finish line (chosen place at the mall) and the winner is the 1st person or team arriving. You can look at the pictures downloaded on a computer later or develop pictures later and send them with a thank you note. This is a cheap and easy birthday party.
You could go to the beach and have a BBQ or fish and chips on the beach, or you could go ice-skating.
