So I know this is a bit early, but I want to start planing now. My birthday is is December and I want to start thinking of things or places I can go to for my 17th birthday. Ideas?

Unless you want to have an outdoor skating party, you will probably want indoors. You could get tickets for a concert or make reservations for a nice lunch or dinner.
This will be your last birthday until you're considered an adult so maybe indulge using your favourite teen type fun activities :) It will be cold so you'll want to stay in-- maybe a dance party, a karaoke party, movie marathon, food and music, or one of those fun murder mystery outings :)
What is the temperature like where you are in Dec? If it is cold, you will probably want an indoor activity, or an outside one where you can bundle up and have fun--like a sledding party or a holiday caroling party.
I like theme parties...like you could have a luau party or a disco party or a flower child party or cooking contest party or a baking contest party or a dance-a-thon.

I live in North Texas so its usually always a surprise,, weather changes fast so I want to be able to think of something where I dont have to rely on the weather:)
North Tx sounds like Pittsburgh...where the weather is always a surprise.
Our nieces and nephews are just a little older than you are. One of their favorite things to do for a birthday when they were in high school was an animal shelter party--where they spent the afternoon either helping with the cats or walking dogs. They had to arrange the parties in advance with the shelter and if I remember right, in once case, the shelter had a party room where they enjoyed cake and ice cream after the time helping the animals.
Maybe you could do that kind of event...where there may be an option to do inside or outside depending on the weather.
Whatever you choose, ENJOY!!!
Go on a weekend trip to NYC with a friend or family. Take a beautiful horse and Sleigh (carriage ride) through the park.
