I want to do a surprise 30th anniversary party for my sister and brother-in-law. Any ideas? I am doing a buffet, fall colors, orange and yellow table cloths. Centerpieces are little fish bowls with a votive candle, amber marbles with a ribbon and flowers around the top.
For favors you could paint little pumpkins with the party info on it the same way wedding favors come pre-printed, then tie the candy corn onto the stem.
A lot of dollar stores sell strands of fake fall leaves which on their own look cheap but if you intertwine them with the lights they will look great, especially in a low light setting. I got mine at Dollar Tree.
Try using popcorn kernels in the candle holder to set the candles in, or better yet if you could get multi-colored corn it would look fabulous.
The mantles would look great with whole branches laid out with small votive candles set at appropriate locations. I know this sounds dangerous but I have done it many times with no problems. I like the look of bringing nature indoors for a party and people always love it!
You could hang real fall colored leaves at different lengths from the ceiling/ and /or put the leaves between a large runner of wax paper, put some leaves scattered about on top of the wax paper, shred fall colored crayons all over the wax paper. Put another piece of wax paper the same size over the top then heat with an iron until the crayons melt.
You can either tack this on top of a table cloth as a runner for your food table or cut and hang from ceiling.
Another idea is lay out fabric pens and have the guests write something they remember or just want to say about the couple on the table cloth, or get 2 t-shirts or something they might have framed later to display. We did that for our mom as a family reunion/70th birthday and we had a shirt signed and framed and it was done beautiful to hang above her fireplace.

I'm hosting a 30th wedding anniversary party next August. The theme is candy and flowers. I need ideas for 10 centerpieces.

Put an all day sucker in a narrow neck vase then add some colorful flowers. Zinnias would be good for August.
Why not find out what the couple's favorite colors & type of flowers are and mix the two combinations together. Then when you see what those choices are then find candies in colors to match. I did a very pretty unusual floral center piece 7 years ago for my daughter's bridal shower. It was a frozen ice center piece with red rose buds & strawberries inside. But you can do the same center piece with any type items added. I'll try to find the link to where I got it from the, Aleene's Craft show. You take any paper carton like orange juice comes in just so it is a waxed carton inside (this helps the mold release better). You add a bit of water to it then drop in your choice of items as you would want them to look after they are frozen for that is what you see on the outside walls of the ice sculpture. On hers I put a large white tall pillar candle in the center first then dropped around the candle silk rose buds and real red whole strawberries with the green stems. And then you fill up the carton with more cold water stopping before you get to the top leaving about 3 inches, because as the water freezes it exspands so you do not want it to over flow plus you need to leave room for the candle to burn as well. Freeze this finished item for a few days prior to your event and take it out of the container by cutting a slice done each side of the carton while frozen to release it from the box. Then just right before the event put the ice sculpture on a large deep sided tray or decorative bowl deep enough to catch the water as it slowly melts and the items inside can have a place to fall and lay in. I put mine in a clear glass large bowl in the bowl's center and around the bowl tucked slightly underneath I put Boston fern leaves and silk white baby's breath pieces. It was so pretty burning. The candle was scented which smelled great and because it had been frozen the candle burned very slowly. As the piece slowly melted away the rose petals & strawberries fell down into the bowl and the strawberries could be eaten if desired. You could do this same idea using any type silk flower heads and unwrapped hard candies and even put you a candle in the center to burn if you desire. But only use the fat pillar candles for they are more stabilized to sit firmly as the ice melts away. You can find many differant shaped boxes that have waxed inside lining like orange juice boxes, etc. You can even use two of the same size flat molds and do two separate molds the same way and then put them against each other for a 3-D look. On those type molds you do not need to coat the sides with anything for they will release easily like shaped cake pans that are deep, etc. The new molds they make now from rubber for your ovens would work perfectly. On those just let the flat side sit in cool water just a second or two to release them then just use the same method for displaying it as mentioned for your center piece.

Make a candy buffet on an eight-foot long rectangle table, drape it with tablecloths and then integrate flowers in between the candy jars that you use, use the couple's favorite candies and use unique jars and containers to make your candy buffet and put the jars and containers at different levels using boxes or books underneath the tablecloth to elevate the candy buffet. You could also integrate ceramic pieces that are conducive to the event that would make it whimsical yet elegant
