as far as food, if you're clever you can make very attractive and tasty enough food just from what's available there. Just buy whatever and make sure to put it in attractive plates.
If you have any ability to cook, then avoid the $ store, go to a real grocery store and buy real produce/meat etc. It actually costs less though takes much more time to prepare.
