Just in time for 4th of July. This simple painted jar with a tea light inside maks a fun centerpiece.
Total Time: 1 1/2 hours plus drying time
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- red and blue acrylic paint
- paint brush
- masking tape
- star stickers
- embellishments
- tea light
- mod podge
- 1 jar
Steps:
- Using masking tape, mark off middle section of jar. Place star stickers randomly around the jar. I made my own using a stencil and large label paper. Paint the bottom of the jar with the red acrylic paint. Paint the top of the drawer with blue paint.
- Repeat painting layers until you have the desired look. I painted about three or four layers of paint, allowing it to dry thoroughly inbetween coats.
- After completely dry, use a razer blade to carefully remove tape and stars.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes to cure the paint. Paint a little modge podge in various places all over the jar and add glitter. Glue a ribbon around neck or embellish with whatever you desire. I had a couple of scraps of star garland and glued that onto the jar. Place tealight on the inside of the jar and enjoy.
