What is a fun birthday idea for a 70ish male, all in fun?
There are several companies that do fake papers. Your sexagenarian can see his name and image in print with stories you make up. Here is the link. It's a hoot. But if you want to frame each page, you may want to order two so you have two sides.
Hope that helps!!

If you knew the time of his 'heyday', you could make that time the theme of the party. If, for example, he was living it up in the sixties, that could be the theme.
Guests could dress the part (as much as possible)..women, skirts, bobby sox, pony tails, etc. Men, cut away suit, bow tie or jeans, lots of brylcreem.
Someone must still have a 'record player' and a stack of old 45s. Remembering and doing the old dances of the day should be fun.
As for food, anything goes. Maybe hot dogs and hamburgers with fries and malted shakes. If anyone is bold enough, they could dress as a carhop, complete with roller skates and serve the food or attend the buffet.
Whatever you decide, let your imagination run wild. This guy will be 70 ish just once.
Have fun!

I'm planning a 70th surprise party for my mom. We want it to be glamorous with the colors of pink and cameo. Do you have any suggestions?

I went to wedding once where they places old antique white gloves and pearl strand necklaces and ladies hankies inside each window seal that was elegant looking. you could play those items somehow into your center piece for the table or maybe just one glove at each table setting with a card with the persons name on it for the setting.
Elegant ladies drink champagne, so how about a glass fountain pyramid and have mom pour the starter glass that gets the fountain going. A chocolate fondu fountain is so neat and what lady can resist champagne, strawberries and chocolate!
Although I like the gloves and beads idea, I think over sized hat boxes would be nice, with feather boas! And for some flowers, just do strewn petals....cheaper.
OH sorry forgot to mention the cheapest websites I have found..
Of course orientaltrading.com and eFavormart.com
By far the best I have found for price and they sell in bulk.
I need some ideas for a 70th Birthday Party. The birthday girl is my mother-in-law, who wanted the family to gather in Las Vegas (her favorite city on the face of the earth) to celebrate. Accomodations have been arranged for the attendees, but what will we do when we get there other than gather for a birthday dinner? She does not want any gifts...
Make your own photo collage of your family with her. Too bad the others are bothering to help. I sure know that feeling. Make it special from your family. Have your husband ,yourself, and the kids write something special under their photos. A reflection of that photo(moment) or a loving thought they have for her. Make it in her favorite colors or something that goes with her decor. Keeping a neutral base colors with a bold accent always works well. Check out "free scrapbooking" great ideas. Almost too many! Remember to make it special from your bunch is what it is all about. :) Happy 70th celebrating!

You didn't state when the birthday is, I hope I'm not too late on this. When in Vegas, go to the Ethel M's Chocolate Factory for the FREE tour of their factory. You get to see how they make their world famous delicious chocolates & at the end of the tour, everyone gets to pick 1 choice for a FREE piece of their chocolates. They also have a nice gift shop. Outside on the factory grounds, they have a really nice cactus garden, everyone can stroll around looking at the various, different cacti. (during Christmas holidays, the cactus are decorated with Christmas lights & looks really nice and very different at nighttime! A very nice & special treat, for all ages, a real MUST SEE, then, something everyone can enjoy & remember for a long time to come!) Going here would be very nice and could be done for any age of person, or group trip, for their birthday or occasion. It's in Henderson, NV (a suburb of Las Vegas). Look in the yellow pages for the address, & phone number, to call for store hours.
I'm hosting a 74th surprise birthday party for my mom in two weeks. Already she has a couple of people traveling long distances to come here. There will be about thirty people total. I have asked all those attending to write and share a story about my mom-funny, silly, sad, doesn't matter. I have asked them to take some time at the party to share these stories with the guests When the party is over, I will be presenting my mom with a binder with all the stories. Moreover, since my mom will be seventy four, I am contemplating to ask everyone to dress as if it was 1974. My parents thoroughly enjoyed the seveties too.
My grandmother's turning 70 in november. I want to plan a surprise party. Any ideas for a theme, favors, or entertainment?

When my Mom turned 90 last year my daughter and I had a party for her and decorated with the theme..The "Red Hat Society" red and purple napkins, cups, plates and table clothes and it turned out beautiful. We even got her a big Red Hat and scarves to match and ask her to wear Red and Purple clothes.
When my Mom turned 70 I got all of the family to send me any pictures they had. I put them together in order of time and then had them put to music. It can be done by video company or you can do it yourself with a computer program. You have to scan the pictures yourself first. It was a hit! I am now getting copies made for family. The family was really touched!
Does anyone have ideas for a 70th birthday party?

Don't know if it is too late. How about a "Your Life in Decades"? Get the best things from when he/she was 1 to 10, 10 to 20, 20 to 30, you get the hint. Could be something from the birthday recipients past or something from the news from that decade. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
