I am just wondering if this can be identified as a desk or table, the approximate age, and value. It has deep drawers on both ends and is made of solid wood with dovetailed joints. The table is approximately 66"long X 36" wide. Research on the Derby Desk Co. shows they started in Boston MA circa 1890 and eventually joined with another company, before being bought around 1930. That is all I really know, other than they made very well crafted furniture. Thank you in advance for any help or insight you can offer.

I only saw two pieces on eBay. One is a roll-top desk from 1890 that is asking $4500. The other is a wood desk chair from the early 20th century that is asking $675. I would guess your desk is worth between $2000 and $3000.
This is a very cool piece!! You are very lucky to have such a find!
This is a library table.
They are quite hard to come by!
There is one sold on Worthpoint, but I no longer have a membership so I can't find the selling price. If you have a membership, that will tell you the value (since sold price = value even if it was in the last 5-10 years):

Because of the provenance of the company and the study, heavy nature of the piece if it were me selling it, I would try to get it into a reputable big city auction house where it can get as much exposure as possible to fetch the most.
The market for these is small, but rabid (meaning people who want them will do a lot to get one) but it has to be something they can find...eBay is not the way for a regular person as shipping it with be a nightmare!
Post back what you learn and if it sells. It is a very neat item!! I love it!
Rats...I hit send before I could address the age. That is a challenge. There are catalogs for this Derby in the Smithsonian. You may be able to access these online and then you could see if you could find the desk to date it.
Thanks again!
I just bought this table at a yard sale in Tucson AZ. $50. I couldnt believe it. I asked if they knew how the table got out here, and what I learned was really cool. One of the sellers is a realtor who bought a house with all of the contents. The house belonged to an actress, and they were selling off most of the contents. They had scripts pictures and costumes from the actress, but I dont think they had any idea what they had with the table. I bought this table for my parents, they love it and it wont be sold. I appreciate the information you were able to provide me in your reply. Thank you very much.
