What is the legal age of boys that parents aren't responsible for them?

Isn't it age 18 for both boys and girls? Anyway I have always heard that they are no longer considered minors at that age. It is different from when I was young, when if I remember right boys had to be 21 before they were considered adults.
When they are old enough to leave home and take care of themselves. My home my rules; your home your rules.
