There is a malware Trojan called "DNS Changer" that has infected millions of computers worldwide and if your computer is infected by it you will no longer be able to access the internet because the FBI plans to pull the plug on DNS servers that are currently providing computers infected with the DNS Changer malware.
It is vitally important that you check your computer now because the definite date for resolution by way of this shutdown in order to stop the spread of this Trojan will be on July 9! Go to this link to check if your computer is infected. If it is not infected you'll see green:
If you see red then your computer is infected. Go to this link and read the information of how to get it fixed. You must fix it "before" July 9th because you won't have the internet access to do so on the 9th:

* A note for those trying to get through to the first 'check your computer' link: If that web page does not display please just keep trying randomly because the website is going to be mighty busy from now through the 8th!
Thank you for this tip. I'm thankful that my computer showed green.
I can't help but to wonder whether all of the thumbs down votes these past few weeks are coming from E or S (you know who you are) out of spite especially for a tip as important as this one was! Quite a juvenile thing to do.
I found this tip on the 9th so it was a little late for me but luckily I already knew about this problem and had checked my computer. I think this was one of the most important tips that I have read on this site in a while.
Just one other thing I can add to the list of things I don't have: DNS, energy, my innocence, my youth, memory, any coherent thoughts and regular bowel movements.
Also, if the US site is down, you can try the Canadian site. It worked earlier this morning when the US site was down.
This tip was on the local news...so not sure why it should be a contest contender.
Hi Linn.2009, Thanks for your question and sorry I didn't respond sooner but I just got out of the hospital this morning. The reason this tip was a contest contender is because it was actually submitted a week before the majority of news stations began reporting it to the general public.
