Photo Description Plant taxonomists are often in disagreement as to where a particular plant belongs. Couple that with most any plant being given several common names; you can call a plant anything you want and be correct, even if you're wrong. The flower I photographed this morning is the Asiatic dayflower. It originates from Asia and made it's way into the States by way of Florida. The proper botanical name for this plant is Commelina communis. Many plants have been given the common name 'Wandering Jew'. Commelina communis, at least where I grew up, was yet another plant to be given this name.
Taxonomists have the task of naming, describing and classifying organisms and includes all plants, animals, and microorganisms of the world.

What a beauty. Do you talk to your plants? I have been doing so since I was a kid. I forgot who told me to start doing it, but I think it makes them happier...
Plants respond to heat, cold, moisture changes, light, darkness. Those whose flowers turn to constantly face the sun as it travels across the sky are said to be Heliotropic .
Many plants are sensitive to touch, one being Mimosa pudica. Some plants dance (sway) when played certain types of music or frequencies.
Many plants sense the presence of other plants. Some wage chemical warfare against each other. Some talk to each other by means of chemical messengers dispersed into the air.
Do plants respond to the Human voice? Maybe. I don't know. I do know I whistled a few bars of 'The Stripper' to my big Aspidistra and she immediately dropped all her leaves.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You are too funny!!! Such a great writer with great imagination! I'm going to put on some tunes in the garden today, see what happens.
I absolutely love this plant, I found it growing wild at my job (Northeast Ohio).
I harvested thousands of seeds last summer/fall and I just planted some yesterday and just set the pot outside.
I feel like if you have them in a place that you can control where the seeds drop, they are easily managed.
FYI. These seeds do not have to be stratified to germinate. They drop, they grow. The cold doesnt kill them either. This, most likely is also what contributes to their invasive behavior.
