Blend 2 cups flour, 1 tsp. salt and 1/4 cup butter. Put yolk of egg in cup and fill to 2/3 cup with milk, add to flour mixture. Roll out dough (1/2) on waxed paper. Place on large jelly roll sheet. Place 4 handfuls of crushed cornflakes on dough. Sprinkle 1 cup sugar and 1 t. of cinnamon on mixture. Put on the apples. Dot with butter. Place remainder of dough on top. Beat egg white and spread on dough and bake at 375 degrees F for 40 minutes. Frost with 1 cup powdered sugar mixed with 1/4 cup warm water.

recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of butter but directions say 1/4 cup butter,, and some dots of butter??????
I think there might be an error in the ingredients and it should only say 1/4 + more for dotting the top. Unfortunately, this member hasn't been on the site for a few years so I don't think we are going to get a response.
1 1/4 cups of butter would be very greasy (2 1/2 cubes) so I would try it with just 1/4 and see how it turns out. That sounds like the right amount. If you try them, please let us know how they turn out.
