You need to attend an information session, Have a conference with a staff member, and fill out an application. Refer to this page: www.atlantahabitat.org/
If for some reason you need a plan B or plan C or plan D, your town has other options. There is this interesting link with a lot of info about available programs:
www.atlantaga.gov/
If you are a member of a church or other religious entity, talk to them to see if they have programs that may help you. Some even have discretionary funds available for emergencies or groups of skilled members who pitch right in and help do the work without charge!
Since you have a computer, if you still need financial help, you can always try a Go Fund Me account and place your story your social media and ask for assistance. The only caveat about this is depending on how much you ask for it may be counted as taxable income. Some libraries offer free tax advice...so you would want to consult with them to verify this number. You can also call the IRS directly to ask for help www.irs.com/
(Be aware that sometimes the phone wait is long, but the people have always been very nice and quite helpful!)
A last place to turn if you encounter red tape or have issues is your local state representative (senator) and ask for help. Help from these entities is paid for by tax money so there should be no charges www.senate.ga.gov/
You need to follow the link and enter your zip code to find out who is your senator and where he/she is located. Ours is conveniently on a bus line. They have an amazing array of services and most even have notary services without charge. It is a very valuable resource for anyone who needs help!
Sending up prayers that you find the assistance you need!!!
