I removed an old RV decal. The area under it is now white compared to rest of side. What can be done to make the area uniform in color? It shows what and where the decal was. We want to put on a new decal, but the new one is not as large as the old one and the white area will show on the edges. Can anything be done short of covering the whole area with a new larger decal?

What the white spot is the old adhesive. There are tools on the market to remove decals without harming the paint Provided the paint has a clear coat urethane finish. The tools available at auto stores may be too expensive for a one time use so maybe the best thought is to visit a body shop and for a few bucks they may be able to remove the old adhesive with one of the tools. The tool is a special abrasive wheel that runs on a electric drill. The wheel does not harm clear coats. If you have regular paint the wheel will remove the paint.
