I would ask my parents if I were you. People nature at different rates.
Everyone is in charge of their own body! So I say go ahead and do your thing. But you might keep in their good graces by "asking advice" ;-) on razor types or brands.
Just be honest and ask your parent for guidance! Your parent was a kid once too!
You may want to find a quiet time when there is not a lot of other stuff going on and just say something "hey I need your guidance on....and then talk."
Post back with an update. I know it is hard, but maybe your parent is just not sure if you want to talk so you are both no talking...this way if you start out, it will make it less awkward for everyone.
