I'm turning 14 very soon, I don't shave anything. My friends talk about it all the time and I just avoid the question. I am so awkward with things like this between me and my mom. It's a month before summer and I want to start shaving before then. Should I ask her via text? Or would that be even more weird?

Do not text. Sit down and tell her how you feel. 14 is old enough to shave, in my opinion.
Nooo text. That makes things worse. Just do it person to person and make sure you bring up all your feelings :)
Stay young as long as you can. Dont be like every other girl who only wants to look pretty. Get into school sports.
So text may not be the ideal place to ask the question to your mom, but it may be a good way to tell her you need a few minutes to chat, privately. If she asks about what, be honest so you don't stress her out that there is a crisis, but still pursue talking in person. Don't text her while she is at work or out with friends, or cooking.
Mom's were teens once too. She may be just as nervous to talk as you are. Keep it low key and calm.
Post back with an update. Prayers and blessings!!
