Are you asking in person, or via a poster? I would just simply explain what the dance is about (I personally had to look it up) and tell him it would be cool to have him come. Then tell him the date, time, et voila!
As far as a poster, definitely the name of the dance, and the date/time in really big letters. Maybe a nice image.
Ask him in person. Try to ask him when he is alone, just in case he says no. Be casual and say you would love to have him be your companion for the dance.
