Turn empty cheese spread glass jars into colorful fall lanterns. Use the lanterns to decorate your porch. Fill the jars with battery operated tea light candles, and add a soft glow to your house during the fall season.
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: one jar candle holder
Supplies:
- 250g empty cheese spread glass jar
- white cotton twine
- leftover pieces of red, yellow and orange cardstock
- small faux apple
- 20 in of 0.3" wide caramel colored ribbon with white polka dots
- 20 in of 0.1mm wide waxed yellow colored cord
- Upikit maple leaf punch
- Heritage spray-on contact glue
- quick drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
- standard scissors
- battery operated tea light candle
Steps:
- Spray the bottle with the Heritage spray-on contact glue and glue the twine to the bottle.
- Wind the twine in a criss-cross pattern tightly all around the bottle. Cover the bottle up to the lip around the neck.
- Continue winding the twine all around the bottle until you reach the end of the twine, or until the bottle has been completely covered.
- Press the end of the twine down and use some Bostik Clear to keep it in place.
- Punch four red, three yellow, and three orange maple leaves from the cardstock.
- Use the Bostik Clear to glue the leaves all around the jar.
- Tie the ribbon and cord around the neck of the glass jar and make a bow. Neatly cut the ribbon/cord ends and add a drop of glue to the knot of the bow, so that the bow won't come loose.
- Glue the faux apple over the knot of the bow.
- Add the candle and voila!
