I have a Border Collier mix dog - Danny. He is an indoor/outdoor farm dog. I need to brush him a lot in the spring while he sheds and then throughout the year for pleasure. He loves to have the attention. Danny is now 13 yrs old with arthritis and brushing can be painful to him. He loves it so much he keeps asking for it. I had to find a way I could "brush" him without causing pain.
Voilà! - the back scratcher! Here is why it works so good:
a) The length applies a light pressure allowing more time at one session.
b) Loosens the under hair while I scratch.
c) Allows me to get to places without making him move (very good).
d) The rollers on the opposite end are not as aggressive as the comb. "Rolling" him gives him time to rest. When he tires of brushing he walks away.
I still need to take a brush to him, but he handles much better! I'm not pulling the under hair any longer. His joints get a massage. He's back to asking for the "attention".
