Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 239 Posts This delightful little brooch will please any little girl (and some adults too!) and takes just a few little scraps of ribbon and cloth to make.
Supplies:
- 3.5 in of 1 inch wide ribbon
- 5 in of .25 inch wide ribbon
- 3 pieces of fine cloth such as organza or net, 7 inches x 2 inches each
- sticky gem embellishments
- strong clear or PVA glue
- needle and thread
- 1 brooch back
Steps:
- Apply glue to the wide ribbon.
- Stick the ends together to make the bodice.
- Cut the narrow ribbon in half and apply glue to both ends of each piece.
- Fold in half and insert into the bodice to form the shoulder straps.
- Lay the three pieces of organza on top of each other and make 2 rows of running stitches through all layers along one edge. Note, depending on the qualities of your fabric, you may need only two or even one piece of fabric.
- Gather the threads up, knot them to secure and apply glue.
- Insert the skirt into the bodice and trim the bottom edge if it is untidy or uneven.
- Sew the pin onto the back and glue a small piece of ribbon in place to keep it looking neat.
- Apply your choice of embellishments and your brooch is ready to wear once the glue is thoroughly dry.
