Normally you'll need pine nuts or some nut alternative for pesto but I don't have any on hand. I omit the nuts and it still tastes as good.
I make small batches throughout the week to use in our sandwiches, toss with orzo, and pasta since we have an abundance of basil growing right now.

At some point in the last ten years, I discovered and fell in love with basil. I like the Greek and Italian versions but my favorite is the purple Thai basil.
I made pesto recently, similar to your sauce but I added pumpkin seeds and some apple cider vinegar. It's great as a dip or even a salad dressing.
I have a couple types of basils currently growing. Lime basil, Thai basil, and purple basil, sweet basil. :) My favorite is the sweet basil and lime basil.
I've never tried lime basil. I'll have to look for that one. :)
