I am trying to spruce up a very old bathroom with ancient green tiles and a tub that is a combination of pink and orange (salmon?). The green and salmon are not dark, but not too light either. I replaced the toilet years ago and settled on cream. My vanity is a white wash oak from the 80s fad that is more pink than white, but I can re-finish it if necessary. The counter is a marbled light beige that I plan to replace. The floor is a light beige large tile. Since the green tile (about 4-5 in squares) is just on the 2 walls of the tub going about 2/3rds of the way up, I have wall above it and also in the remaining portion of the bathroom walls I want to paint.

I think your previous wallpaper was a very good choice, as the tiles and tub are a tough thing to unite. However, how about choosing cream/off white walls, and then a bold colour for towels and accessories, to jazz up the room and take attention away from the tub and tiles. I would use a bold green and dark pink that match the tub and tiles, sort of. I think that is what I would do, since you are pretty much stuck with the tub and tile.
