How and when did you get your pet?
We adopted Baxter from a local animal shelter a little over a year ago. He was surrendered to the shelter with an injury to his front leg, and an infection in the bone. He had a rough couple of months needing multiple procedures and casts, cage rest, and several courses of antibiotics. The shelter kept Baxter until he was well on his way to recovery and covered all costs - that's why your local shelters need your support - so they can give dogs like Baxter a second chance at finding a loving home. Thanks to Almost Home Animal Shelter in Pennsauken, NJ for not giving up on Baxter!
What does your pet like to do for fun?
Baxter doesn't have an "OFF" button! He's totally wacko and he likes to torment his playmates all the time, play tug, run as fast as he can, go for walks and steal socks, but he especially likes spending time with my husband and me - that's when he's the happiest - just getting attention from us. He also has a peculiar behavior of pecking his mates with his nose like a chicken.
Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Baxter wakes us up in the morning by poking his nose into ours. I'm betting (and hoping) he calms down as he gets older, but no matter, Baxter is a much-loved member of our family. Make adoption your "first" option!

Hi - I am a cat "person" but I love dogs too! What a great encouragement for anyone thinking about getting a pet. I do not believe that all shelters are as great as yours but they still need money and supplies to help as much as they can.
Most people do not understand that shelters like this need donations as they think the "government" takes care of their needs. The truth is they have a budget and very rarely get what they need.
My large family have adopted many animals over the years and we always try to give a little when we can. We also save all of our old "rag" clothes to donate every 2 or 3 months as these can be used for all sorts of "animal" things (otherwise they have to spend budget money to buy "rags".
God bless all of the animal lovers of the world - they are usually "better" people . So please do help when you can and know your money is not going to some CEO's new car.
You are absolutely right about shelters and the animals in them. I have had many pets over the years. Some where pure breeds. My dog came from one and lived a happy life for 12 years until old age took her. I still miss her everyday. This dog was the smartest best dog I ever had and she was mixed breed. Not the prettiest dog, but looks aren't everything.
I feel your karma for selecting a dog from the shelter is that you have received a beautiful little dog - he sounds like he has a fantastic personality & is so happy to loved . He looks adorable. I hope you have a long life together.
I love the first picture - Baxter's so cute and personable! Bless you for adopting him and making him healthy again. Best wishes for many happy years together!
