I use these in my beach themed bathroom. You can use any bottles as long as the opening is big enough for the shell to go through. Craft stores have sand in different shades, shells in different shapes/sizes and pebbles. You can get some from the beach but you should wash them so the bottle doesn't get cloudy, grow mold or bacteria.
