You cannot make a darker color white. You can tie dye it if you like.
Tie dye with bleach is fun! I am curious why you don't want to go that route. I did a few pieces several years ago and they turned out well.
The same company that makes dyes also makes color remover:
Rit has a good colour remover but I am afraid that you will be unhappy with the results. It is very hard to get something, even if it's a natural fabric like cotton or wool to completely undye. The best you can probably expect is a not quite uniform faded yellow
even with bleach it would be hard because at the strength required it would probably degrade the fabric
