Bleaching Pillow Cases White?

My pillows cases have a lite color brown. I want to dye them white, but am not sure how do it. Can you suggest a dye that's easy to use, but does the job?

You could use the Rit Color Remover, but I doubt you will be successful. It is much easier to go darker than lighter.

I do not believe you will be able to get them completely white and the resulting color may not be pretty.
Some material will do better than others but cases with any type other than cotton may not do well in trying for white or any light color.

If cases are cotton, using a mixture of water with bleach may get them as white as color remover would or whiter.

Sure you do not have a darker color you could use?

You could purchase new pillow cases? Could be cheaper and less a hassle to do.

They sell standard pillow cases (2pack) at your local Target or Walmart for around $5 bucks.

Or you could use a pillow protector for less than $5: www.target.com/.../A-14066252?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID...

It is almost impossible to dye dark things like and get consistent results, and not ruin the fabric. I tried this once on a shirt I was actually experimenting with a dark to light tie dye and I left it in the bleach too long and the bleached part the fabric become so weak after one wearing it had holes. The section in question was almost pure white, but it was so fragile I ruined it.

I have purchased new in the package brand name pillow cases at yard sales and flea market for under $1 a pack. If you need them immediately you may have to pay retail, but if you shop the fleas or yard sales you may find them after a few sales.

I agree with every answer given here. You could buy new, white cases/ slips and use the light brown under the white. I always use 2 cases on a pillow, along with a zippered cover. Body oils and skin cells make their way through pillow cases. I had rather wash pillow cases often than pillows even less often.
