Photo Description The first picture is the new baby sitting on the hummer perch, and wanting mommy to feed it with its mouth open, and the mommy hummer is just to the left in this picture. The second picture was precious and funny! The baby hummer tried like crazy to get nectar out of the plastic little flowers on this perch, and she poked and poked at these flowers. We couldn't believe our eyes, it really was such a precious sight to see. The last picture was how the new baby hummer then tried the other side of the perch to get nectar out of the plastic flowers on the perch. She was insistent that this is what she was supposed to do, eat from flowers, but, she found out shortly afterwards that there's a gazillion feeders that will give her all the nectar she wants. I wish the pictures weren't so dark, as this particular hummer "perch" is right under the eaves of the house, so it was all shaded under there,
This is a brand new to the world baby hummingbird. Yesterday was her first day out of the nest and I think we were as excited as the mother bird was.
and it was a "now or never" time to get the picture, so I took it.
Photo Location
This was taken in our backyard yesterday (3-23-18), Las Vegas, NV

Wow, another beautiful shot. Well done!
Thank you :)
The baby hummingbird is as sweet as can be. We've seen four
now, as we've been watching and waiting because we knew that at least 4 of the hummers were going to have babies. Their little bellies were so puffed out, and then last weekend we saw that several of those females were all trim again, which we knew then that they did have their babies.
Seeing the babies sitting on the feeders next to mom, they open their mouths and wait, wanting mom to feed them, but, she's not.
She does show them where the food is though, and they'll sit for quite a long time now at the feeders.
It's really special because the new baby hummers seeing us right off the bat, they're not concerned about us because they think we are part of their world.
I love that. You're so lucky to witness all that, and be able to capture such gorgeous shots :) My parents will love this post, so I'll pass it on!
They are crazy bird-lovers, FYI! :D
Too precious!! I can't imagine how tiny the baby was.
How wonderful to be able to sit in the waiting room for a glimpse of the new babies. I can just image how excited you must have been to see these new little wonders!
