My kitchen is white with mauve counter tops, oak cabinets, and white appliances. I would like some color to brighten it up and make it more cheery. Can you help me? The kitchen joins the living room which also has mauve carpet and curtains. I am just tired of plain mauve and white and need a pick me up color. Thank you.

The color mauve pairs well with cornflower blue, light pinks, periwinkle, blue, mossy green and light sage green. Any of these color would really add to your kitchen and brighten it up.
I think I'd want to add something too. Surprisingly mauve can be mixed with some other colors and they accent each other. I've seen it with shades of teal and orange. (that'd be brought &cheery in a kitchen!) I've also one seen it look quite elegant mixed with black & shades of silver & cream. Following are some links with some good ideas: www.hunker.com/
Fuschia is a really bright colour, it might go okay with mauve. You can change the colour of counter tops with shelf liner rolls the sticky stuff, sticks right to the counters. It is inexpensive and easy.
How about some deep jewel colors for dish towels, pot holders, pillows or cushions to perk up the color?
I would choose a spring green or a pale yellow.
If you really want to give it a splash --------try RED !!
Well, since your counter-tops are mauve that much mauve will have to stay. Your white appliances will stay so that leaves your oak cabinets and white walls. Painting cabinets is usually a big job but you might want to paint the center panels (if that is possible) a very cheery yellow. I have seen this done and it changes the whole look of the kitchen.
i really think a nice bright yellow would be a good thing, especially a warmer yellow such as junkee.com/
