I have Singer model 2662 with a broken needle top stuck in the needle bar. To make matters worse, it has fallen sideways in the bar! I have tried several things to get it out, a magnet, screwdriver, needle nose pliers and it seems to be jammed in there to where I can't insert a new needle. Anyone have any suggestions I haven't tried? Thank you in advance.
P.S. Pardon the lint, I need a cover for my machine.

Use a strong magnet. If that doesnt work, use a small plier to grab the end and spray with WD-40. Jiggle it back and forth a few times.
If you have a small eye glass screwdriver (those super ittty bitty thin ones), try to slide it up the side of the needle and gently wiggle and pull down at the same time (if you have a sturdy tweezers to do the wiggle and pull it is better than doing it with your figures....unless you have a good grip with your hands, which I don't).
If you use any kind of oil or WD 40 be very, very careful to do a super good clean up and run lots of scrap fabric through before you start a good project. WD 40 especially seems to hide in the machine for weeks and comes out on your project and ruins it. I avoid any kind of oil even sewing machine specific for that reason. Could be I just have a heavy hand, but I have had other friends who say the same thing, that they will never make that mistake again.
Be safe as it is easy to get cut during this process. Hope it works!
Thanks so much for the advice. Unfortunately my husband decided to try and "fix it" himself. He really messed up the needle bar. It was so chewed up when he finished, I had to just get another one.
Sorry....sometimes the honey do list should be a honey don't list! Give him points for trying :)
Hope it does not happen again!
