Broken Pull Cord on Gas Mower

After making numerous attempts to replace the pull cord on my Craftsman push mower, I have "no" recoil at all. Any ideas? Thanks.

I tried taking the whole thing apart, cleaned the filters, and spark plug. Make sure the blade can spin freely, I think what really did the trick was WD-40. Sometimes lawnmowers lock up when the oil level is really low to stop the engine from blowing out so check that too. Sounds like a lot, but it's pretty easy. (08/19/2010)
