Bug Found in Bedroom

Bug Found in BedroomI have seen this bug a couple times already, some crawling on the wall and recently on a bed. I am not sure where they are coming from or where I should focus my attention on cleaning. They are very small, black, and do not fly.

It appears to be a (very small) hard-shelled beetle. They may just be coming into your house for water, or it may have been too wet outside and it was looking for someplace dry. Same for heat... looking FOR warmth, or TOO hot outside for it. Just vacuum them up and empty dirt cup or bag OUTSIDE, so they don't escape in the house. You could also use a general bug spray on the outside of your house, around all door and window openings, and at the top of foundation walls just below the siding.

If the beetles are small enough to get through window screens, you'll want to check them for any holes. If no holes, the bugs might fit right through the screen mesh itself. In that case remove the screens and also spray them with bug spray. Will need to repeat spraying if lots of rain washes it away. Good luck.

You didn't write the size of this bug, but in the photo I can compare the size with your fingernail. The size of the beetle is about 3 mm. Also in the photo I can distinguish teeth on the sides.

I am absolutely sure that this is the Sawtoothed Grain Beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis).

The sawtoothed grain beetle is a major pest of stored food products in homes and commercial facilities.
Length is about 2.5 to 3 mm long.
Slender, flat, body, with distinct serrated edges and six prominent projections on their thorax. These projections give the beetle its name.

The pests usually get into goods when they are in production or on their way to stores or homes. Tainted items on grocery store shelves can lead to a mass infestation in the local area.

"In homes, sawtoothed grain beetle problems begin when residents bring infested food into the kitchen. The insects quickly spread to other bagged or boxed products. In their adult form, sawtoothed grain beetles may even leave the pantry and appear in other areas of the house . Beetle-infested items often cause mold problems due to moisture buildup. Aside from tainting stored goods, sawtoothed grain beetles do not cause many issues for homeowners. The pests cannot bite or sting and do not infest fabrics. However, it is crucial to identify and remove all affected products to prevent reinfestation. " www.orkin.com/.../sawtooth-grain-beetle

Throw away infested food.
Clean the empty shelves with a vacuum to remove any insects and food particles.
Store new food products in tightly sealed glass or plastic containers. Store pet food in containers with a lid.
Inspection and cleaning are key steps in eliminating sawtoothed grain beetles. Insecticide application is the final step. The application should be made into cracks and crevices. The object is to eliminate any insects that might be hiding.

Fortunately they are not bed bugs. If I were you I would use a general insecticide to prevent them from multiplying

This appears to be one of the many types of Beetles. Regular insecticide can be used to fight them or catching and placing outdoors, they are not dangerous to humans.

They do love plants and textiles in your home.
