On a trip to a field I noticed a crusty red bump on the outside of my dog's ears. I have been with him all day prior to the spotting and I never saw a thing. He is only 2 years old and it a Jack Russell cross Bishop. Can someone help? I don't know what to do.

A vet visit would probably be a good idea. However, this site provides insights as to what to expect from such conditions:
"Many dogs and cats have lumps and bumps, and not all of these masses are malignant (cancerous) tumors. In fact, most tumors are benign (not cancer). So if you find a lump while petting your dog, or your vet finds one during a physical exam, don't just monitor it."
