Silver Post Medal for All Time! 408 Posts Turn basic craft material into a delightful birthday card. Decorated with flowers, this card is sure to make the recipient feel special.
Total Time: 10 minutes, drying time excluded
Yield: one birthday card
Supplies:
- A4 sheet of ordinary white printer paper
- 8.2 x 5.6 in rose pink shimmer cardstock
- 5.1 x 3.7 in white handmade tissue paper
- 5.1 x 3.7 in cream corrugated cardstock
- magenta Dala glass glaze
- food colorings: yellow, sky blue, and apple green
- quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
- large petal palm punch from XCut, code XCU 261811
- standard scissors
- pencil
- ruler
- 4 small plastic bowls
- 2 to 3 sponges - use ones that were inside a medicine bottle
Steps:
- Add a bit of the food colorings and the glass glaze to the plastic bowls, adding each to a separate bowl. Do not add water to the food colorings, as you want to have strong, bold colors. Tip: You can use pink food coloring instead of magenta glass glaze - I did not have pink food coloring, so I decided to use what I had in stock.
- Use the sponges to color the printer paper, allowing the colors to interflow with one another. Allow to dry thoroughly.
- Punch 24 flowers from the colored sheet of paper.
- Score the rose pink shimmer cardstock to create a card sized 5.6" x 4.1".
- With the fold to the left, centre and glue the piece of tissue paper to the front of the card.
- Take the piece of corrugated cardstock and cut out the inside, leaving a space of 0.3" from the outer edges of this piece to make a "frame." Glue the frame to the card.
- Glue 12 flowers inside the frame, gluing them in four rows with three flowers each.
- Glue a second contrasting flower on top of each of each flower, but do not glue the second flower down completely, so that you can slightly bend the petals of the second flower upwards.
