My buttonhole foot won't make buttonholes. I have all the settings right, in the correct order. All I get is a glob of thread. The foot doesn't move like it should to make the buttonhole.
Has anyone else had this issue?

From patternreview.com:
The older Singer Professional buttonholers, do need to be cleaned, oiled at their moving parts and kept free of grit/dust, which they accumulate a lot of while they do their thing. Something might have seized inside the attachment. If there'a s lever on the side, move it back and forth to make sure it actually moves the the buttonholer smoothly along the gauge mechanism and back again in its whole circuit without sticking.
there is a small pull- down lever at the back by the presser foot lever. after you put on the button presser foot attachment, place your button on the back (I just use a coin, quarters are about 1 inch) pull down the button lever and push it backwards.
You have to push the lever that you pull down back each button hole
Make sure there is no lint or thread in the buttonholer or the bobbin area.
You do not say if you are following the manual for placing correct settings but sometimes it is easy to miss something.
Here is a link to a manual and instructions on page 42 - just in case you want to recheck. Although you may now have a problem removing the glob of thread.

I have the same problem with my new Singer 4423. I am about to open it up to see if I can find a problem in the bobbin area. Did you ever get your problem resolved?
I have just got my singer 4423 and am facing the same problem with button hole . I just end up with a blob of thread
You are setting your stitch length too far towards 0. If it gets too close together it just sits and sews on top of itself and makes a blob of thread. I have also seen the fabric hang up on the underside by the feed teeth and keep it from sewing.
I am having the same issue. All areas clean and settings per manual. Very disappointing.
I have the exact same problem. All the thread settings are correct, the button hole foot is brand new. I have tried it on scrap samples 10 times and also end up with a "Blob" of thread
My machine only does one side of the button hole. it does not go back and do the other side.
Make sure your stitch length dial is not in the 0 click. Move it there, then turn it back counterclockwise slightly.
Mine does the same , the machine just keeps clicking as if something is jammed inside , did you get yours resolved please ?
I was in the same boat. I finally realized I just wasn't pulling down the buttonhole lever to the lowest position, I'd stopped too soon. When I pulled it all the way down, and then pushed it back, it worked.
yes, im having the same issue with a singer c5200 right now. my fabric in not feeding/buttonholer isnt moving. it just sews repeatedly in one spot causing thread mess,
I am so frustrated with the button hole foot. I have tried 20 times or more, following all the instructions. and also get "globs"
can anyone help me? my lever won't stay back, so the button hole wont sew innless i hold it. but then i cant get the length right!
My lever won't stay back either so it just sews on the same spot!
I was having this problem too because the buttonhole lever wouldn't stay back when I pushed it. I thought it'd clicked into place when I first pulled it down but it turns out I had to pull even harder to get it down all the way.
1.check that the setting for the button hole stitch is exactly on 1 not anywhere else
2. Make sure the fabric is stiffened or already has some stiffness in it, this will help you get it right
3. the lever which is by the needle shaft that you pull down has to then be pushed backwards away from you
4. As you try to do the buttonhole the lever comes forward on the return journey down the side of the buttonhole, this means that every time you begin your button hole you have to push it backwards again.
5. The white plastic thing does not have to make any connection to the button hole lever that comes down
6. Do not slide the button hole slider ( the bit which slides back inside the white plastic foot ) in advance of sewing
Your info saved me. I was not pressing the button lever down hard enough!!
Thank you so very much.
