Is there a vacuum out there that actually really works with pet hair on rugs and brick/non-carpeted floors? Last year I ended up buying a Hoover Linx cordless stick vac and the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser hand vac, as I was so frustrated with our old Miele White Star. Both are decent for day-to-day touch-ups, but my Miele has now totally bitten the dust and I need to buy a new vac this week.
As much as I'd prefer an upright vac, I use my hose and attachments all the time to vacuum my very textured adobe walls, furniture, crevices, lampshades, etc.
I've spent a lot of time this morning searching Consumer Reports and Getcleaningdone. But, every time I check out the customer reviews there's always complaints that the rollers still get bound up with hair and have to be continually cut off. Or that the vacuums are falling apart! I found one that seemed to work well, as long as you got down on your hands and knees and used an attachment to get it up. I've been doing that for years with my Miele White Star and am so done with that! For a vacuum that expensive (back then it was close to $500), shame on them!
Is there a vacuum out there that actually really works with pet hair on rugs and brick/non-carpeted floors? I need recommendations ~ and ones NOT to buy~ quickly please. Help!

I have been extremely happy with my Shark Navigator Lift Away. I do not have pets, but I have heard rave reviews from pet owners.
I just recently bought a Bissell Powerforce Turbo Helix vacuum. It was $59 Plus tax at Walmart. Its bagless, so no bags to buy. It is excellent for pet hair! It doesnt have a light, cord rewind, super long hose, fancy febreeze filters or anything like that that raises the price significantly. This is what I like about it: clogs are easy to clear, the whole inside of the waste container is washable, there are two filters both of them are washable, then just hang to dry overnight. There is a crevice tool, and a brush, as well as a power brush. I find that the power brush isnt the greatest, but I like the design of the other two tools. Its lightweight, so I didnt think it would be that great, but Im really happy with my purchase.
My suggestion may not go over well if you do not have a good used vacuum place around or you prefer new.
I have had my Red Hoover Encore (not the fancy one--there is one that has attachments, mine does not) since 1993. It is the best on carpet to wood and is just amazing for pet hair. When we had the two doxies, it was the best. We just have the one now, so it doesn't get quite the work out it did before.
It needs bags, which may be a downside if you prefer bagless, but I would not trade it for anything. It has been repaired and tuned up several times, and keeps on like a champ.
One of the times I got a new one when it broke, it was one of those ones touted for dog hair...a Bissell maybe, it it was so horrible that I returned it and took mine to get it fixed. That was a smart move as it has been 10 years since that time.
I am attaching a link that shows a photo of one (not mine as I think this was from Cali) but what they look like: offerup.com/
If you see one a used vacuum store, snap it up!
