Decide what features are must-haves. The dryer pictured was only $299. I gave up the bell that rang when the clothes were dry, because the cheapest model with that feature was $200 more.
On the other hand, I had a dishwasher that had a valve malfunction and caused damage to my kitchen floor. I was willing to pay more for a machine that would stop itself and drain if this happened.

Well, now, thank you. That's just not something that would have occurred to me. I rarely ever get to the thing when the alarm rings anyway. Why should I pay extra. I think I just learned to study things a little closer before I buy.
Very good advise, I didn't have any idea that the sounds could cost that much on a dryer! I will keep your advise in mind as I shop for appliances from now on. Thank you, Marcy
I have that exact dryer. It does have the bell but the light when you open the door went out. It is 12 years old and runs like a top. We paid $300 for it. It's a keeper.
