Cake Mix Inner Bags For Freezing Chicken

Gold Post Medal for All Time! 523 Posts

Chicken breasts being pounded flat in a recycled cake mix bag. There are so many uses for those tough inner bags of cereals, cake mixes and so on. A lot of good ideas have been posted here and I come up with another most every week. Here's my latest.

When it comes to fried chicken breast tenders, I like mine thin. That way, there is a higher ratio of crunchy breading to the inner meat. As with a good cobbler, the crust is really what sets off the food.

My intent here was to use the cake mix bag just for pounding the tenders. Then it occurred to me that the bag itself would be ideal for freezing as well, and I have accumulated several over time.

I folded over the top of the bag and sealed it with tape after pressing most of the air out. I will stack the bags in an airtight Tupperware bowl and freeze. Then, I can take one or more as needed from the freezer. Some tenders were smaller and I put two per bag.

Besides being extra crunchy, there's another benefit to pounding the tenders. They thaw in a short amount of time.
