Is this honeydew harmful to a roof?

This is an interesting question. It is disgusting and can be very challenging to remove, so is that what you mean by damage?
I have not heard of it eating through a roof (or anything like that), but I have never known of it to be in that quantify, so someone may have personal experience with roofs that I (thank goodness) have not had.
It can be unsightly when it stains anything.
I am concerned if you have enough of these creatures pooping on your house that they are affecting the roof at all...usually it is just some damage to porch furniture or such under a tree.
You may want to call your local home extension office and see if they can suggest a good solution to get rid of the bugs to start with. They can severely damage trees.

It is sticky and hard to remove but does not do damage, as far as I know.
