I just won a goldfish at a fair and it is very late and everything is closed. Is it okay to feed it little pieces of bread crumbs just until we are able to go to the store tomorrow?

Soak it in water first and just give a tiny bit. Excess crumbs will cloud the water.
NO!!! Please NEVER feed gold fish bread.
Bread can kill fish as it bloats them.
If you have to feed them something other than gold fish food, you can try very, very tiny bits of frozen peas (take off the shell) or lettuce.
Best to get them real goldfish food ASAP to give them their best chance to survive.
Sadly fair fish frequently don't make it because they are sitting so long (often in the sun or not properly fed by the people who run the fair). This just happened to a friend over the weekend and she had one very sad kiddo.

No. No bread crumbs. Tiny bits of lettuce are OK. Get some fish food right away.
