Do you never know what to do with those sea shells, rocks, stones, or pretty flowers collected while on a vacation trip or an outing? Here is an idea which preserves them and brings back memories. While vacationing on the island of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, I had fun gathering flowers and shells. This is how I preserved my vacation memories.
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- 1 candle
- memorabilia
- craft glue
- mod podge
- paint brush
- glaze or brush on mod podge
Steps:
- Choose desired size of candle and color based on memorabilia. Pictured here are dried flowers, a garnet I found in Nevada, an agate from the beach.
- Arrange the memorabilia onto the candle, gluing each piece as you go with craft glue. Glue a few at a time, placing candle on its side. When dry, continue the process. After everything has had a chance to dry, using a paint brush, paint mod podge over the project. Let dry. Instead of mod podge, you can use half glue and half water mixture to seal and protect the items.

- Enjoy the candle, but don't burn it otherwise you will lose all of your vacation memories! And its better to show them off rather than have them sitting in a box somewhere.

That's a pretty way to remember past vacations.
If you burned the candle down just a little ways, you could put a battery operated tealight in it. That way, it would work as a candle too.
