Caring for a Dog with Parvovirus

My dog is 8 years old. It is suffering with parvovirus. We had taken him to the vet and they are telling me to not feed anything to my dog and they continuously inject him with fluids. It's been 7 days. Will it be okay? I am really worried about it.

Each dog is different with this virus. Keeping your fur baby hydrated is very important. Follow the Vet's advice. When he is able to eat, choose soft foods. He may be very slow moving and sleeping often. The healing will take time before he is feeling 100%.

When a dog first is diagnosed with Parvo the best thing a vet can do is stop feeding the dog, treat the dog for the sickness, and keep the dog hydrated. This means giving the dog a lot of fluids and if the dog is not taking them orally then they need to he inject6ed. The first 7 to 10 days can be the worst depending on how sick the dog is. The vet has treated so many of these cases with great success and they know what is best for the dogs.

I would continue to follow the advice of your vet and do what they are telling you. Your dog should be fine and if you see any major changes for the worse you need to take the dog back to the vet right away. I am telling you this from experience I had 2 dogs with this and both of them were fine. it took time and I followed what the vet told me to do and all worked out.

I sincerely hope your pet is home and safely over the Parvovirus.
Have you found information on how to clean your house and yard after your pet has had Parvo?

This is very important as you would not want a visiting pet to be exposed to this terrible virus.
There is a lot of information on the Internet on this subject but here are a couple of links to get you started.
