Our Cojack Bonnie's eyes are "weepy", this makes a matted goo in the fur under her eyes. I take a warm damp cloth and try to clean this goo off of her, but she will only stand for so much. Any ideas on the eyes would be helpful.
BTW she is an amazing baby girl. Ok, so she is 6 years old and soooooo smart, lovable, snuggley, loves to play, loves people and toys. Oh and she loves to eat, I have to watch her weight, she doesn't, lol. She is my baby girl.

What a sweet puppy face!! Love it!!
We call what is happening "eye boogers" and some dogs just get them...my late Carmel Ann was the eye booger queen!! Boy do I miss her :(
I always recommend talking to the vet first to make sure it isn't a true health condition (illness or allergy). We know some dogs that you change them to a gluten free (or some chicken free) diet and the eye boogers disappear....but that has to be vet approved!
Once clean bill of health is established, you could just have the "eye wipes" become part of the daily routine using a few pieces of food that count toward his meal (breakfast and dinner) as "treats" when you do a quick swipe with a warm cloth. This way no extra food and he gets rewarded for "wipies" time.
It always worked for us and hope it works for your sweet face pup too!!
Thank's everyone for your voice....Bonnie is due for a vet visit in July, thought I would wait another couple of weeks and ask the vet then. I did ask her groomer who has been in business for year's, Barb told me she did not think it was a serious problem...
There is a product called "Bright Eyes" that takes care of this. You don't want it matting her fur.
I use contact lens cleaning liquid on my dog. It works well.
My old dog had many allergies to things and her vet had told me good old Johnsons tear free baby shampoo We did it every morning and every night and middle day durning her seasonal allergies I used two containers one with plain warm water and one with warm water and a few drops of Johnsons (it was a lot quicker than it sounds) first Id dip the washcloth in the shampoo water wipe the eye area (didnt get to bad as I kept up with them) than with another clean washcloth Id rinse the area after at first took about 10 min but after a week and keeping up with her eyes took less than 5 min. Hope this helps
